Frame work as SR&ED, not as ‘innovation’
SR&ED focuses on systematic investigation or search by experiment or analysis to advance scientific knowledge or achieve technological advancement. Map projects to that language before you model ITC outcomes.
Separate proxy inputs from filing math
Wages, materials, and contract expenditures feed estimates differently than final T661 and ITC computations. Provincial overlays and CCPC status can change economics. Treat Index outputs as planning figures with a stated as-of date.
Carry the estimate into adviser selection
The Canada decide path lets you attach an estimate summary when requesting an introduction. That helps practices quote scope against real project volume instead of a blank inquiry.
Primary source
Start with CRA SR&ED program pages, then the Credit Index Canada standards explainer, before sharing numbers externally.
